The current project under development by the Infinite Empire team is Star Wars: Rise of the Sith. This is a game modification for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 The Sith Lords. The mod will feature a completely different storyline and setting from the original game. There will be new areas, new weapons, new party members, and new music.

The mod will be set several centuries after Star Wars: Episode 6, as to avoid any conflict with the Expanded Universe.

Here is the basic plot and setting:

It has been centuries since the fall of the Empire and the New Republic is thriving in the galaxy. However, a new threat is looming as a large group of mercenaries called the Talons of Dehros threaten the peace by making claims of injustices done by the New Republic. This group is quickly becoming their own faction, and, with their claims and promises, has gained much favor from the outlying planets in the galaxy.

Some of the members of the Jedi Council believe they have a means to fight back when archaeologists unearth a temple built by an ancient civilization called the Malkazi. This civilization grew vastly in technology and once dominated much of the galaxy. Their weapons became so powerful however, that their civilization was destroyed by them.

The temple contains two cryogenically frozen pods containing what appear to be the last remaining members of the civilization. Their purpose, and the purpose of the temple itself, was to pass on the legacy of the Malkazi to others, long after they had gone. Included in this legacy, is the military technology and power that made the Malkazinians so great.

A dilemma forms when some of the council members feel that freeing the Malkazinians without knowing enough about them could be dangerous. This creates a rift in the Jedi Council, and sets forth events that will dramatically change the fate of the Republic and the people of the galaxy.
